COMP RIVERSIDE
Since its inception in 2000, the COMP Riverside program has provided more than 500 computers and internet access to low income families in Riverside.
It began as Riverside Computer Investment Program through an initiative from SmartRiverside and the Office of the Mayor. It is now an economic development partnership among Arrowhead Credit Union, Jaguar Computer Systems, the Riverside Public Library, and the Riverside Public Library Foundation.
Children in qualifying familes first complete a basic computer course at a participating Riverside public library. Then their parents can apply to purchase a computer with a very low interest loan. Thus, this program provides literacy with computer use and experience in handling the loan process.
